| 1-day weekends kinda make me sad, because once you're finally enjoying your day off, you realize tomorrow it's already over. I thought working Saturdays would be ok, since it's pretty relaxing for me to work at Shoppers with my favourite Iraqi pharmacist (Ok, the only Iraqi pharmacist I know, but he's still my favourite one), but it just sad coming home and then waking up the next day to know that the following day, the work week starts all again. A resounding BOO, non? I think I might have been a tad sad this morning, but I went to a meeting today and we had yummy cakes! Yes, more than 1! And pizza! One was a chocolate mousse and the other was this indescribable layer cake. I think I'm going to go to Sen5ses (haha, I just had to write it that way!) to see what it's called. It was sooo good. Will report back.
Oh you know what else is really sad? My current credit card bill. It's been heavily used. I'm always saying, "I get points! I get points!" and my parents are all, "Yeah, fine then we'll pay with it then." And then I'm all excited since I get PC points! (POINTS!!! Which means money saved!!!) But what sucks it that I end up having to pay it. Screw the points! I'm not offering next time. Ha. Ha Ha.

| I have finally watched Season 1 of Grey's Anatomy! Right now, I am 1/3 of the way through the second season and I quite like Season 1 more. Season 1 is more about introducing the characters, different surgery cases, the stress of being an intern, those first stages of dating with Derek (I refuse to call him McDreamy, because I don't find him dreamy at all) and Meredith and Christina and Burke (I can't call him Preston, I just can't)... The second season on the other hand, well there is just too much drama! For some reason, someone cries in every episode and it's usually Meredith, who is so tortured that I want to strangle her. Someone is sleeping with someone else, someone else finds out, people get angry, so and so had an affair with someone else, people get syphilis, blah blah blah... And I hear the third season has even more drama that's it's simply ridiculous. All and all, I'm not really watching the show because I genuinely like it (Friday Night Lights, I genuinely love love love for example). I just want to see how ridiculous it can get. And to me, that's quite entertaining in itself.
As for movies I've watched recently... V for Vendetta and Little Children. Natalie Portman and Kate Winslet. What fantastic actresses. Plots of both were borderline interesting and somewhat disturbing (which I liked to a certain extent, you'll know what I mean if you've seen either), but I felt like the characters (and performances) really made the movie. Also, I felt like both movies were too long at 132min for V for Vendetta and 130min for Little Children, so be prepared if you plan on watching them.

| This show is one of my new favourite reality shows. It chonicles the lives of parents Jon and Kate and their 8 kids. Two are twins and the other 6 are sextuplets. Isn't that nuts? Anyways, the kids are so adorable and the things that they do and say kills me because it's so damn cute. I never thought I'd be one of those "Awwww, that's so cute!!!" people, but I totally am whenever I watch this show. I'm actually embarrassed for myself. But I find this show fascinating in how they try to do normal everyday things, and it's just turns into something so different since there are so many kids! It's on Mondays at 9pm on TLC and the family or the parents have been on shows like Oprah and Dr. Phil, I guess making the rounds to promote the show. However, it worries me that these kids have so many cameras in their face at this young of an age (toddlers and kindergarten age). I hope they don't get screwed up along the way. Kate, the mom, is a super organized, type A, my-kids-have-to-eat-organic-meals-and-I-am-a-coupon-lady-extraordinaire kind of person, and she just is so friendly and someone in such a different situation with all her kids, but you can relate to how she wants what's best for her kids. Refreshing really. It's nice to see a show that is a great example of good parenting than something more negative where the kids are terrible and the families are miserable and british nannies have to be brought in to discipline the kids. And Jon, the dad, is so chill and easygoing and helps with a lot of the housework, chores, and kids. Me likey.
I really do talk about TV a lot. I think this blog may start to have a TV theme now! I can't wait til Thursday when I can do more "research"! | | |
| Friday Night Lights is my all-time favourite show. Yes, more than Buffy, more than Felicity, even more than 24. It's on Wednesdays on NBC at 8pm. I've been downloading episodes and watching them on my breaks from studying for exams.
Friday Night Lights is about a high school football team in a small American town and how the lives of the boys on the team, the coach, and their families and friends are intertwined. But it's not really about football or sports at all. I don't even have words to describe what it's really about, only that I feel that every episode is so meaningful to what it means to be a good person - the challenges we face, the people we touch, and to have friends, family, and people we care about. Almost every episode, I get a little weepy, just because there are some moments that are so touching. I'm such a sap, I know, but this is a quality show people and I urge you to watch it! What I really like about it is there are no cliffhangers! lol So you won't be in suspense to find out what happens next. Each episode is satisfying in itself, so it's perfect for exam breaks! Gives you something to think about, what kind of person you choose to be and "makes you want to hug yourself".
If you watch it, let me know what you think! (But don't tell me what's happening right now... I'm only on Episode 12) If you don't, download it. :)
